Dear potential future employer,
I am glad that you chose to follow my link to this blog post for a little bit more information about me. By now you have probably read through my cover letter and CV (hopefully with optimistic expectations) and maybe you want to know a little bit more about myself to make me stand out from the crowd. Well, in the hope that this will win you over, here is some more detailed information about my life that you might not have gathered from my resume alone.
- As you have hopefully assumed by this point, I run my own blog. This is a project that I have been working on for over a year now and I am truly enjoying how it’s going. I love to write and creating these short blog posts have become a good way to keep those in my life updated about what I’m doing and where I’m going. Not only that, but writing quick posts like these has helped me develop my writing skills and acclimate myself to a platform which I might have much use for in my future career. Further to my writing skills for social media and copy, writing blog posts has also inspired an interest in writing fiction as well. I am currently taking a class called “Intro to Fiction” and this is teaching me a lot about the ways of being a successful writer.
- I love to travel. Now, strangely this may not mean what you think it does. While I do love to travel and see the world, somehow most of my expeditions have been centred towards the east coast of America. Originally from Cambridge, England, I moved to Connecticut when I was 15 years old. I attended high school in my local town and graduated before moving back to the UK for university. However, my ties to America run true and deep and I love returning to see old friends and visit the country that I have quite honestly fallen in love with. My friends and I are planning a cross-country trip after we all graduate from university in a few years time.
- I have always had a passion for art and design. Ever since I was little, I have always loved designing and creating things. If you asked a 6-year-old me what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer would have been artist. I have developed a great deal as an artist over my 19 years, I am now most interested in digital design and I have invested a lot of my time in learning how to use Adobe softwares such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premier Pro. My art is now more of a hobby, however I always enjoy when I can apply my creative skills to a project. I also sell some of my designs online as stickers, greeting cards, and bags.
Then just some other fun bits and pieces: I am currently learning American Sign Language (ASL), I love to read (especially classics), I like to run (when I can find the inspiration) and apparently I like to use parentheses (a lot).
I hope that this post was helpful and that you enjoyed learning a little more about me as a potential future employee. I look forward to hearing from you very soon!
